Underneath the still blazing sun at half 6, HIM strutted on and opened their 40 minute set with ‘Buried Alive By Love’. The Finnish rockers did not play tracks from their new album ‘Tears on Tape’, instead choosing to play a string of fan favourites including ‘Wings of a Butterfly’ and ‘When Love Starts to Die’, which worked more in their favour, with the crowd singing along to all of their tracks. The ever charismatic Ville Valo beamed at the busy crowd of fans throughout the performance, looking perfectly comfortable. The fans energetically sung over the last track ‘The Funeral of Hearts’ and when the band left the stage, you got the impression that the atmosphere for the weekend had officially arrived.
