1. blink-182 – California
When Tom DeLonge exited blink-182, we were all pretty skeptical about how the band would continue—If they would continue. But after a year of back and forth, stupid news stories and general Blink fan sadness, Alkaline Trio‘s Matt Skiba has proved his worth beyond a doubt.
California is a pop punk album through and through. From bouncy guitars to classic cheek-in-tongue Blink lyrics, the album highlights the band’s natural progression and maturity (well, as mature as Mark Hoppus could possibly be). Catchy, youthful tracks like ‘Sober’ and ‘Bored To Death’ are contrasted with more thoughtful, emotional ballads ‘San Diego’ and ‘Home Is Such A Lonely Place’. And it wouldn’t be a Blink album without at least one stupid track—luckily California has two: ‘Built This Pool’ and ‘Brohemian Rhapsody’. California is catchy, funny and, well, very blink-182! And anything with Blink in it is A-Okay with me!
