Enter Shikari- Mindsweep
I’m going to start this by being a bit critical; personally since Take To The Skies I have liked each Enter Shikari album less and less. Again they were a local band for me growing up, and hearing the electronic buzz of the band coupled with Rou’s insane screams was the perfect soundtrack to my teenage years. Every time ‘Sorry You’re Not A Winner’ comes on and there’s the clapping part I’m thrown back to being 15 in a venue in St Albans. So when Mindsweep dropped, I gave it a listen and didn’t expect much, having purposely avoided the released singles, and I was shocked. The album may be more ‘tech’ than I am used to, but for Shikari it all works. When ‘The Anesthetist’ kicked in I knew I was in for a winner, and despite Rou being incredibly ill their headline second stage Download set was a definite highlight of the festival.
