The leading lyrics of “I’m in the sky tonight / There I can keep by your side” open up a somewhat enigmatic but undeniably touching song that exercises their softer side. Gentle melodies intertwine with Grohl’s compassionate and tender vocals to create a mellow highlight on an otherwise predominantly high-octane album.
Then we have the official video itself. Largely stepping away from their usually comedic music videos, we see Grohl, Mendel and drummer Taylor Hawkins play in zero gravity on their way to the moon, whereupon they place a flag with the ‘FF’ crest on it – looking back now, that scene has a certain level of foreboding with it, as Foo Fighters would soon fully conquer the rock world.
