My Chemical Romance History
2010 – Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys
Drummer Bob Bryar left My Chemical Romance at the beginning of 2010.
The release of Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys was executed with trademark MCR flair. In September 2010, the band released a YouTube video called ‘Art Is The Weapon’ featuring a snippet from the song ‘Na Na Na…’ and announced the name of the album. The video was mysterious and showed members of the band fighting unknown enemies in the desert wearing odd brightly coloured outfits. MCR fans went into meltdown after this, trying to work out what it all meant, until the premiere of ‘Na Na Na’ on Zane Lowe’s Radio One Rock Show.
The album was released an agonizing month later, on November 22nd. Mike Pedicone joined the band as their touring drummer, but he was sacked from the band a year later when he was caught stealing merchandise.
Danger Days was a very different album from the others. It had a concept; post-apocalyptic California in 2019, but it was more metallic, and had elements of power rock, more than the other albums. Fans continued to dress like the band, and copy their make-up, and it was generally well received.
