My Chemical Romance History
2004 – Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge
After I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, My Chemical Romance had got themselves a relatively small, cult following. But this was all about to change.
The year after Bullets was released, MCR signed with Reprise Records, and started work on their second album Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge. The album went platinum in just over a year, and is still one of those albums that you should have on your playlist.
The band replaced drummer Matt Pelliser with Bob Bryar, and released four massive singles; ‘I’m Not Okay (I Promise)’, ‘Thank You For The Venom’, ‘Helena’ and ‘Ghost Of You’ – and people loved it.
Three Cheers didn’t just mark the start of the unprecedented rise of MCR, but the start of emo. A whole new subculture was born from this album, along with others, of course, and will always be fondly remembered by most of us old enough to.
This album resonated with hundreds of thousands of people across the globe and began MCR’s descent into super stardom. A huge moment in My Chemical Romance history!
