My Chemical Romance History
2002 – I Brought You Your Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love
While at Eyeball records, the band met Frank Iero, who was frontman and guitarist with the band Pency Prep at the time. Iero joined the band just a matter of days before the recording of I Brought You Your Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love which was officially released through Eyeball Records on July 23rd 2002 – just three months after the band was formed.
Released 15 years ago this month, Bullets was raw, aggressive, and full of spirit which won the band an underground following. This was My Chemical Romance at their most primal – and it was amazing.
The concept of the album was about a pair of criminal lovers, who were killed. The man was in purgatory, and the devil told him that he would bring his lover back to life, in return for the souls of a thousand evil men. There are a few other themes running through Bullets also; ‘Early Sunsets Over Monroeville’ is about zombies, and there are lots of references to vampires and various other undead creatures throughout Bullets. In the sense of concept albums, My Chemical Romance started as they meant to continue.
