Main stage Hip-Hop artist – Drake/Kanye West/Frank Ocean
Nowadays, there is always at least one hip-hop act on the main stage. Eminem headlined in 2013, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis appeared in 2014, we had Kendrick Lamar last year and A$AP Rocky this year, so we don’t doubt that this will continue. But who will take the mantle?
Frankly, we have no idea. But this is all about theorizing and speculating wildly. Kanye West seems to be everywhere nowadays but we haven’t seen him in Richfield Avenue or Bramham Park yet. On the surface, he may well rub revellers up the wrong way, but there were definitely a lot of people wearing Yeezus t-shirts this time around. The issue is that he may not accept anything less than a headline slot – or a full stage to himself for a full day. Could we see the inclusion of a Yeezus stage?
The other option may be Drake. Another personality you can barely avoid, with songs that many people will know, whether they want to or not (*cough* ‘Hotline Bling‘ *cough*). Failing that, Frank Ocean has been setting the world ablaze for the past 2 years just by being annoyingly silent. That all came to a head though last month when he FINALLY released his new album, Blonde. Could we get an R&B edge to next year’s hip-hop main stager? Only time will tell.
