According to reports by Billboard, this Christmas may bring the most awesome gift at all. Forget the socks from the relations, the HMV vouchers or even the new games console – The Beatles are soon to be available on streaming platforms.
Although there is no set date for the Fab Four to make their streaming debut, Billboard’s sources note that there’s “a strong indication” that Christmas Eve will see Beatlemania available on tap.
The deal allegedly dates back to January of this year when former Universal Music Group digital executive Rob Wells reopened discussions that had previously stalled. A deal was reportedly struck in mid-September. It’s not yet known if the group will be exclusive to one service as they are for downloads with iTunes, but sources suggest that this will be a blanket agreement covering all services.
Due to different licensing requirements, the band are already available on American web radio service Pandora, but this will be the first time the band’s music will be available digitally on demand. In the meantime why not check out our collection of the best Beatles mashups!
