It’s 40 years since The Beatles invaded the USA, sparking a musical revolution that will never be seen again. It’s also ten years since the idea of YouTube first popped into it’s creators heads.
To celebrate both (but mainly The Beatles) here’s a selection of the best, the funniest and the craziest mash-ups featuring the Fab Four.
Songs Mashed: Fatboy Slim ‘Weapon Of Choice’ and The Beatles ‘I Am The Walrus’
This ladies and gentlemen is worth it just for the video combination of Christopher Walken and John Lennon wearing his eggman cap. I still haven’t decided who wins that crazy off. Musically it sounds pretty damn good too!

Songs Mashed: LCD Soundsytem ‘Daft Punk Is Playing In My House’, The Beatles ‘Get Back’ and The Kinks ‘You Really Got Me’
This one is clearly a little strange, but wierdly catchy…like pubic lice if you will. The combination of LCD Soundsytem and The Beatles sounds about as appalling as a Ke$ha/Flaming Lips collaboration (That was just a dream of mine right?), but somehow it works. Judge for yourself!

Songs Mashed: The Beatles ‘Let It Be’ and Shaggy ‘It Wasn’t Me’
This one is just pure batshit insane, but one of my favourites all the same. One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded put into a blender with a song about doing the dirty. This is simultaneously why I love and hate YouTube. It does however make a genius ballad about a guy who’s heartbroken over being caught banging butt naked on the bathroom floor. It even makes Shaggy tolerable without intoxication!

Songs Mashed: RATM ‘Killing In The Name Of’, The Beatles ‘Come Together’ House Of Pain ‘Jump Around’, Cyprus Hill ‘Insane In The Membrane’ and Joan Jett ‘I Love Rock And Roll’
Okay, so this is a mega mashup, the sickly Shakeaway milkshake of mashups, unlike 90% of said milkshakes however, this actually works. We have essential vanilla of ‘Come Together’, the milky smooth beats of Cyprus Hill. Then they’ve added the strawberry goodness of ‘Jump Around’ and topped it off with the whipped cream luxury of Joan Jett and the sauce of Rage Against The Machine. Ed-Enough with the milkshake metaphors already!.

Mashed Songs: Queen ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’ and The Beatles ‘Come Together’
It takes a special man to relegate Freddie Mercury to sideman, and Queen have most definitely tried in recent years (see their collaboration with Five). However one man who could fill those imperial boots may just be John Lennon. Adding a hard edge to the song brings out the best in Brian May’s killer riffs and makes the 11 year old in me giggle a wee bit with the line ‘Fat Bottomed Girls Come Together Over Me’.

Mashed Songs: John Lennon ‘Imagine’ and Paul McCartney ‘Band On The Run’
Okay, so this one isn’t funny but it’ll make the hairs stand on the back of your neck. One clever YouTuber had the idea to create a collaboration between Macca and Lennon. While this isn’t The Beatles reunited it isn’t stupidly far off the peaks of post humorous Lennon/Beatles collabs ‘Free As A Bird’ and ‘Real Love’. The juxtaposition is stark, but beautiful, with the sum of their parts working off against each other amazingly.
