Björk
Alternative rock musician Björk may seem like an odd choice but hear us out. Her tattoo might not be as bold or as beautifully detailed as some of the others on this list but her simple, tasteful design deserves a mention. The Icelandic singer-songwriter is known for her eccentric style but there is nothing outlandish about her tattoo. The symbolic design on her left arm is a Norse protection symbol known as VegvÃsir.
It is often called the Runic Compass or See the Way and was traditionally drawn on the forehead to prevent a person from getting lost. Fortunately, even Björk decided a forehead tattoo might be pushing it. In an interview with Rolling Stone in 1995 she said: “It’s so I don’t get lost…If the Viking’s had bad weather or fog, they used to draw it on their heads with a piece of coal. I thought that was a bit much, so I put it there.” Good decision.
