Over the years, I dread to think how many pop-punk gigs I have been to. I’ve loved every single one of them. Every gig is different, and of course it depends on the size of the venue and the band playing. I’m not saying that everyone at pop-punk gigs is rude. As with any kind of crowd situation with a bit of excitement thrown in for good measure, there will also be some pushing and shoving. And with volume levels high, it’s often hard to apologize to that girl whose foot you just trod on, or that guy with the fringe whose drink you spilt with your frenzied jumping. But at metals gigs, people are SO polite. It’s probably a British thing, and we are famed for being polite, but every time I was in the way, or every time someone knocked me, I was apologized to very sincerely. One girl, on noticing how short I am, even offered to let me up on her shoulders so I could see the stage! What a legend!
