James Bain

Bain has the very unfortunate record of serving the longest time in prison for something later disproved by DNA evidence, spending a massive 35 years in prison. In 1974, Bain was charged with kidnapping, rape, breaking and entering that saw him sentenced to life in prison.

After persistently asking for legal aid and further DNA evidence testing, his pleas for help were heard by the Innocence Project Florida, a new non-profit organisation dedicated to proving the innocence of the falsely imprisoned. Further DNA tests proved Bain had definitely not committed the crime a he was released with $1.7mil compensation.
