Japan is known for its quirky and vibrant culture, and their music is no different, spawning the likes of Babymetal, Crossfaith and Maximum The Hormone over the years. Here at MOSH, we love a bit of J-rock and metal, so we decided to take a look at some of the most insane and awesome bands to have come from Japan!
Maximum The Hormone
Starting with probably one of the most bizarre metal bands ever, let alone in Japan, Maximum The Hormone‘s signature mix of nu metal, hardcore punk, pop, funk, hip hop and ska has earned them their place of being amongst one of the most unique groups on the planet. Their songs can shift from tongue-in-cheek bubblegum J-pop to violent thrash in a matter of seconds, and their live shows can get pretty chaotic to say the least. Check out their video for A-L-I-E-N to see just what we’re talking about – watch out for around 2:53 where shit gets really weird (but strangely brilliant).
