Periphery – ‘The Heretic Anthem’
Next up we have the godfathers of djent themselves, Periphery. Back in 2012 Washington DC prog metallers Periphery released their cover of Slipknot’s ‘The Heretic Anthem’ as a bonus track on their second studio album Periphery II: This Time It’s Personal. This iteration of the fan favourite IOWA track is just as heavy and monstrous as the original, complete with gruesome vocal work and complex instrumentals from start to finish. Who would have thought that Slipknot and djent could go together? You really do learn something new every day.
