Review: Yashin – We Created A Monster (Album)

We review the new album from Scottish six piece Yashin and oh my what an album it is! Read what we thought of ‘We Created A Monster’ inside..

Band: Yashin
Release: We Created A Monster (Album)
Release Date: Out Now

After touring with rock legends Limp Bizkit recently, the sheer excitement for this album has been off the radar. With two years since their previous offering ‘Put Your Hands Where I Can See Them’, which gave birth to THAT Britney cover, oh yes it was good, not one person out there expected what was still to come from these guys. Two years passed and then the release of ‘We Created A Monster’ was upon us!

We will be honest with you, we have had our reservations about this Scottish six piece in the past, this being my own personal views but, this album is pure and simply next level sh*t. The sheer production of the whole album speaks for itself, utterly flawless in every way – smothered in breakdowns in the right places, complete vocal perfection from every pore and that much compulsion and drive throughout each track to simply have you hooked from the off.

They throw you straight in at the deep end as opening track, also album title ‘We Created A Monster’, completely blows you away; at under two minutes long that is one hell of an achievement. Half way through the track you simply lose your ability to stand still and before you know it you are thrust straight into ‘Runaway Train’, possessing your body with the exact same effect. It’s punchy and enslaving owning arguably one of the best break downs of the album; “get the f*** up” indeed.

Then its time for a break amongst the madness; ‘Pushing Up Daises’, ‘The Game’ and ‘<4’ have that chill out and sing a long vibe to them. ‘<4’ perhaps showing off the bands maturity with its stunning piano parts and hypnotizing lyrics – a perfect eye of the storm!

Also deserving a mention is ‘Angels Son’, wakening its listener the hell up, smashing out some epic fast paced guitars and brutal vocals, getting you in the mood to move again.

It is then time to mention arguably the best track on the album, ‘The Last One Standing’ – just unbelievable from beginning to end. You get sucked in then startled as the first 50 seconds melt your ears off with the tracks down right musical perfection. The completeness and ability of Kevin Miles’ screams is mouth watering, with the clean vocals from Harry Radford fitting in perfectly throughout. We revert back yet again to the production, impeccably firm and utterly infallible for the listener.

It would have been so easy to have picked out every single track and highlighted their greatness individually. You get the ‘oh no it’s finished’ feel at the end of every track and the album as a whole, it is that good. This album just bleeds greatness and we can only add how utterly intrigued we are to see Yashin play this live, we hope that will be just as impressive.

10/10
