It’s been a little while since former Asking Alexandria frontman, Danny Worsnop packed up his mic to focus fully on his new band We Are Harlot. We’ve been itching to get our grubby hands on Harlot’s debut for months now but this is it! It’s finally here, and it’s a thing of beauty take our word for it.
Now as far as musical styling goes, We Are Harlot are a lot more melodic than the previous brutal sound works of Asking Alexandria. Imagine Harlot as a mild cheddar, and Asking as the full stilton if you will. But don’t get all literal with the cheese analogies, this album is killer. For the most part, Worsnop has ditched his trademark deathly bellows and instead blossomed into a beautiful hard rock heart throb. Delivering an on point vocal performance throughout the entire record, each brimming with bucket loads of harmonies, face melters and party rock attitude.
There’s no point denying it. What we have here is a full throttle, balls to the fucking wall rock and roll album. Lead guitarist Jeff George’s licks and solos are practically arousing and the amount of diversity throughout the album keeps you gripped and rocking for the long run. As well as the previous high octane releases ‘Denial’ and ‘Dancing On Nails’ Harlot also deliver textbook emotional rock ballads like ‘Someday’ and ‘I Tried’ which has a definite whiff of Aerosmith about it. So let’s wrap this baby up shall we? If you’re one of those ‘Rock and Roll is dead’ skeptics you can suck a fatty. This album is everything rock should be. Cheeky, fast, loud, everything! The full package.
Honestly, we could be looking at one of the next BIG names in rock here. Let’s make a list. The look? Check. The sound? Check. The talent? CHECK! This album is not just great, above all else it’s consistent. One of the best debuts we’ve heard in a long ass time. Expect great things from We Are Harlot in the near future, because if this album’s anything. It’s a statement they’re here to stay.
