Band: Yellowcard
Release: Always Summer (Single)
Release Date: Out Now
‘Always Summer’ is typical pop/punk anthem. But its summery twist and the fact it’s the first glimpse of what’s to come on Yellowcard’s new record makes it relevant. Ryan Key’s lyrical hook “It’s always summer in my heart and in my soul” creates a carefree and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for the sunshine. Something we have to envisage in the UK, but being from Florida, the band are mostly guarenteed glorious weather. Not fair.
The lyric video that accompanies the track has a constant background of sun lit trees. (Not helping with everyone’s desperation for some sun here guys!) The bouncy drums and buzzing bass dominate the verses, until the familiar energy-fulled pop/punk riff comes into view, all assisting Key’s American twang of the love inspired words.
‘Always Summer’ features on Yellowcard’s 8th studio album ‘Southern Air’, which is due to drop on the shelves this August 13th. Yellowcard always seem to be able to deliver a tune. Even after all this time in the pop/punk limelight and influencing vast numbers of other bands, they’re still proving that they have their respectful place within the genre.
