Borehamwood based band, My Little Empire have released their new single, ‘Solitude‘, earlier this month.
The indie/pop rockers, My Little Empire, have brought out a slightly Paramore oriented sound with this latest single. The track is catchy, and the chorus owns this epic vibe. Describing their influences as the Foo Fighters and Kids In Glass Houses, is something that is easily recognisable, particularly when the drums intensify and the tension is raised.
‘Solitude‘ is a quick and hurried track, proving of the emergency of the lyrics. Frontman Rob Dodkin‘s breathy vocals bring the track to life with the feeling of realness which possesses the nerdy influence of 90’s punk. As pleasant and listenable as the track is, it does feel at times as though there is something missing – a strong bass line .
To My Little Empire‘s credit, ‘Solitude‘ is decent single – definitely catchy enough to be played on the radio or in a pub, but it isn’t enough to necessarily rock this reviewer’s world. In other words, it is a bit of a Marmite track – you either hate it or love it.
