Described as metalcore with a cinematic and melodic twist come Avantine- armed with ‘Noah’s Ark‘ EP- a release that has been highly anticipated by loyal fans and new fans alike.
Kicking off with ‘Restarting The World‘, samples and keys set the aura before the track explodes into an assault of frenzied heavy, slightly off-time rhythms and deep, almost guttural-styled vocals. As well as piercingly high notes that display the range of the vocalist as the record flows nicely into ‘From Berlin To Bangkok‘. A staggered offering that brings man different genres together in a pool of ‘something for everyone’.
‘Light The Fires, Love The Memories‘, is a chug heavy banger that embodies all things metalcore with a touch of tech thrown in amongst the mix. It ends on an impressively catchy melodic section laced with gang vocals and hard-hitting rhythms as the record builds into the all-out melodious gift ‘Differences‘, a track that is a slight step away from the typical sound of the record.
‘Oleander‘ is the first track that the band released off of ‘Noah’s Ark‘ and understandably so. As the ‘stand-out’ number, an almost completely metal track laced with samples filling awkward gaps to round the track off nicely whilst still embodying the staggered, jagged edge that the band utilise.
‘Noah’s Ark‘ comes to a close on ‘Walk Your Way (Changing The Perception)‘, a strong, uplifting and varied number that brings a pretty sweet record to conclusion. If you’re big on heavy yet melodic, sample-heavy metalcore, then Avantine could certainly be the band that you tell your friends about in the morning.
