Hailing from Yorkshire, metal five piece With One Last Breath are set to release their debut album The Fearless Ones.
Album opener ‘The Storm’ immediately evokes an emotionally driven atmosphere with its combination of soaring keyboards and thundering drums. With clean and screamed vocals interweaving well, the band crashes in and gives us a taste of what’s to come.
‘Blessed’ really makes me think of blessthefall with the vocal splits and melodic guitars. Title track ‘The Fearless Ones’ has some hard hitting guitar playing and a very anthemic quality, accompanied by an affecting set of lyrics.
Hell We Create is one of the outstanding tracks on the album, with some great breakdowns, keyboard fills, and an emotional passion in vocals. The band then do what they are best at, although it feels there is room for something else. It leaves you wondering if there is something a little limiting about the metalcore approach that influences their sound.
Tracks such as ‘Broken’ with its lyrical guitar solo, and ‘From Wreckage I’m Reborn’ with its heavy influence, shows some innovative and interesting directions that the band might develop further in the future.
With One Last Breath are definitely going to be on our radar from now on. And future releases from them are set to be interesting, particularly if they can start breaking out a little from some of their initial musical influences.
