Live Review: The Darkness – HMV Apollo, London – 25/11/11

The Darkness are back and HTF were lucky enough to see them on their comeback tour last month! Check out what we thought here..

Band: The Darkness
Venue: HMV Forum, London
Date: 25/11/11

In many music lovers opinion’s, mine included, The Darkness are where it’s at. As soon as the god of rock n roll himself, Justin Hawkins, stepped on to the stage, all in one cat-suits in check, the room filled with love from then on in. As the entire band induced their brilliance upon thousands tonight, in one of London’s most satisfying venues, the electricity in the room intensified as soon as the lights went up.

Justin marched around the stage in style and nailed every high note with ease. They bounced between classic hits such as ‘Get Your Hands Off Of My Woman’, ‘Growing On Me’ and ‘Friday Night’ from first album smash ‘Permission To Land’, and it became apparent that the entire venue were watching a live masterpiece before them.

They unleashed the unexpected tonight with ‘Don’t Let The Bells End’ being a worthy addition to their set list, quite similar to the one at this years Download Festival. As confetti landed on the heads of the crowd not one person in the vicinity expected what was to come. As riffage from another guitar graced the speakers, gasps and screams filled the room as rock star legend Brain May exploded on stage. On lookers cried in amazement as they witnessed their favourite band play with a legend; some would say ‘the Daddy of rock n roll‘.

The Darkness never fail to disappoint their audience and tonight ensured this. Their comeback tour was one to go down in history.
