Live Review: Don Broco – KoKo, London – 18/04/2013

Don Broco played the last gig of their tour at the KoKo in London, find out here what we thought of it….

DON BROCOBand: Don Broco
Support Band: Decade, Pure Love
Venue: Camden KoKo, London
Date: 18th April 2013

After selling out every date of their ‘Priorities’ tour, the last stop of the second leg brought Don Broco back to London; and back to Camden. It was only a couple of month ago that Rob, Matt, Simon and Tom rawked a fully packed Underworld, so due to high demand an extra date at the legendary KoKo was added – a venue 5 times the size, but nonetheless, it sold out just as quick. With it’s own trending ‘hashtag’ #brocoatkoko, this was clearly the show everyone had been talking about and THE place to be.

Now, gigs at small venues are usually the one, for obvious intimacy reasons, but Don Broco are definitely an exception to the rule. With these guys it doesn’t matter if they play in front of a few hundred people or thousands, they always manage to make everyone feel involved and part the show, with a never ending amount of energy and charisma to fill any venue, any size.

Right from the start, with the fist notes of ‘Priorities‘ the atmosphere in the venue feels immense and full of excitement.  As the music takes over the room and the audience, Simon, Rob and Tom turn sideways to do their ‘walk’, which has kind of  become their signature ‘dance move’.

The setlist is packed with one great song after another, a real mixture of old and new. Everything from their latest single ‘Fancy Dress‘ to ‘Hold On‘, from ‘Dreamboy‘ to ‘I’m Good‘. During one of their oldest songs ‘Thug Workout‘, front man Damiani usually gets the crowd to make room in the middle and then asks the male audience members to do some push-ups, but this time he puts in a request for a human pyramid, and the fans are more than happy to participate in all of it – from pyramids to sing alongs.

Don Broco‘s live shows are a real pleasure to watch, with their great light show, there were balloons, confetti, a huge back drop, and their very own little dance routines, the guys look like they are enjoying every minute of it just as much as their audience.
Without a doubt an amazing live band and all those sold out gigs say I’m right to say so. If you are one of the few people, who has not seen them live yet, make sure you catch them at a gig or at one of the festivals this summer.

If you don’t walk away impressed, I shall personally refund you the ticket money. Yes. I am THAT confident that you will love them. They always give more than their all and deserve nothing but less than this for any of their performances:

11/10
