Punk rockers Less Than Jake have been making musical waves since their first release in 1993. The influential band from Gainesville, Florida have released 8 studio albums, and countless EPs, but still aren’t slowing down any time soon. The quintet are about to release their brand new album Sound The Alarm on the 3rd February.
The 7-track release is everything you’d expect to hear from Less Than Jake. Punchy pop punk melodies and massively energetic riffs are just a few classic LTJ musical elements. The band just exudes feel-good 90s punk vibes. The first track of the album ‘Call To Arms’ is a fast-paced firecracker of a song, and in true punk fashion, it only lasts 2 and a half minutes. The spirited, hopeful vivacity is kept throughout the album, even in slower, emotional tracks ‘Whatever The Weather’ and ‘Years Of Living Dangerously’.
Catchy ska punk hooks are ever-present in Sound The Alarm. The infectious, frantic energy is 90s pop punk all over, and we A-D-O-R-E it! Luckily for us, Less Than Jake don’t change with the seasons. They have been doing this for a while, so they have fully mastered the ability to deliver poignant, and important messages through kickass groovy tracks that make you want to dance—see ‘Whatever The Weather’. The track is about depression and the anxiety that we face in life but encourages us to move forward and walk the tough road.
Less Than Jake have produced another great album to go with their invigorating, energetic and outrageously fun discography. And we couldn’t be more stoked to play this bad boy on repeat!
