The rock industry’s favourite bad boy is back folks! That’s right Ronnie Radke is back with more craziness from Falling In Reverse, with their latest album Just Like You currently streaming for free on YouTube before it’s release on February 23rd. But the question is, is it any good?
Just Like You is a pretty important album for Falling In Reverse if you think about it. 2013’s Fashionably Late was a real marmite record. Some loved it, some loathed it. This time round we really need a worthy successor to 2011’s The Drug In Me Is You, and you know what guys? For the most part I think we got one. Just Like You opens with ‘Chemical Prisoner’ which when compared to some of the total garbage we’ve heard from Falling In Reverse (cough cough ‘Gangsters Paradise’) is absolute gold dust. The guitars are fast and loud, and Ronnie’s vocals are ridiculously strong and powerful.
This strong rock vibe carry’s on for the majority of the record, which is great! You’ve got ‘God If You Are Above…’, ‘Guillotine IV (The Final Chapter)’ and ‘Stay Away’ which are all really solid rock tracks, good stuff! ‘Sexy Drug’ does a bang up job of capturing the cheeky, crude personality we expect from Ronnie, this album is a lot of fun. Some rappy verses do crop up in ‘Wait and See’ as well as that really fucking annoying grunty gorilla noise, seriously what is that! But they’re blown away by the tracks colossal chorus.
If you loved The Drug In Me Is You and were disappointed with Fashionably Late this album will more than make up for it! Just Like You is a lot of fun and a statement that Ronnie is still very much a rock star, despite how gangster he tries to be. Leave it behind dude it’s not cool, trust us!
