With Lone Star State punk rockers Bowling For Soup celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, the band have put together a new greatest hits album picking out the best of the best from their alcohol fuelled career, and it’s glorious.
Songs People Actually Liked – Vol 1 – The First 10 Years (1994 – 2003) along with having quite possibly the longest album title in existence, is a powerhouse of nostalgia and good times bringing smiles to faces with oodles of power chords and catchy choruses. Don’t think though that this is just another run of the mill compilation album, no! Bowling For Soup have re-recorded timeless pop punk anthems like ‘Punk Rock 101’, ‘The Bitch Song’, and ‘Girl All The Bad Guys Want’ to show that their love for the genre and their huge fan base has far from faded over these two decades of pop punk craziness.
Unlike the previously released, Playlist: The Very Best of Bowling For Soup, which the bands old label released without their consent after they were dropped. The new album contains a huge track list which was hand picked by the band, although lead singer Jaret Reddick did state that it was hard to get all of their defining tracks onto one record. So watch this space for Vol 2.
The troublesome Texans also added a brand new track titled, ‘20 Years (That’s A Lot Of Beers)’, which is a real tribute to the bands legacy and the journey they began back in 1994. The new track also shows that Bowling For Soup haven’t lost what makes them so great. The cheeky attitude that we admired as school kids is still there, and it puts a massive grin on your face just like pop punk should!
Bowling For Soup have made clear countless times that they are not ready to quit just yet, and this album just makes you want so much more. Get to it boys, we’re waiting.
