The UK is riddled with many dirty little secrets, most of which aren’t that interesting but Death Metal band BELIAL are stirring up attention with the release of their debut album Nihil Est.

Named after none other than the devil himself, the unforgiving six piece from Swindon are the poster boys for how much the fun the underworld might be. Especially if it’s full of the kind of soundscapes, metallic fury and technical finesse that radiates from this latest release.

Nihil Est is a combinaton of unapologetic, old school, death metal, some mind blowing instrumental work but if that isn’t enough to fill your boots over, it features bonus tracks of the entire  along with some of the band’s original material, from their self-titled, debut EP!

This phase of integrating previous works into recent ones, could be mis-construed as laziness and an un-original way of giving earlier records a second chance to shine, however BELIAL are a clear exception.

‘Host,’ ‘Wen’ and ‘Parasite’ are all fine specimens of the bands earlier works, which highlight their raw talent, no questions asked but having them placed later on the track list, this makes way for their explosive debut as a full, professionally recorded band and showcases their strengths from one sweeping guitar solo to the next. ‘In Origin,’ ‘Heroin Holidays’ and ‘In Extremis’ all boast the most unforgiving, unapologetic technique as they sweep through your head effortlessly, causing devastation and awe, both at the same time.

This underground band are not to go unoticed.
