After causing a ruckus with two EPS, it was about time Philly punks Beach Slang dropped their debut full length. Will The Things We Do To Find People Who Feel Like Us justify the hype?

Throwaways
“It’s a dead-end town for trash like us,” rings true for almost everyone seeking a way out. This is poke a beehive angry, until a hint of melodic at the end brings hope.

Bad Art & Weirdo Ideas
90s indie rock rules the roost here. Dripping with melody to loses yourself in, this is nothing short of brilliant, because music.

Noisy Heaven
Heavy on the distortion and as contagious as the recent epidemic of Star Wars fever this is as dangerous as the deaths star. Helps that frontman James Alex knows how to tell a tale.

Ride The Wild Haze
Alex’s vocals take on a sense of urgency as he and the quartet rattle through, combining to form a crushing wave of sound. Sure to be a live favourite and one to connect with people who “get high enough to feel alive.”

Too Late To Die Young
A whinny acoustic ballad of sorts that doesn’t work with the frontman’s rasp. However, the dainty strings and perky piano provide a rare moment of elegance.

I Break Guitars
This is similar to other tracks on the record but without the added crunch or catchiness. Rhythms are pretty tight, though.

Young & Alive
Think Feeder but with a strong punk core and you’d be close. Colouful tones whip into an atmospheric crescendo, while gang vocals get the fists pumping.

Porno Love
While the music delves a little deeper and explores different landscapes, the vocals are one-dimensional, which can be a little grating.

Hard Luck Kid
Feedback drenched riffs, a chorus that soars and intelligent lyrics. Beach Slang know their way around crafting a tune.

Dirty Lights
A weird cacophony of defiance infiltrates the ears. A solid ending to a more than solid. ‘…Feel Like Us’ is a cracking, punk with a dose of pop, debut.
