German post-hardcore merchants Annisokay have a new album entitled, Enigmatic Smile and it’s one of those fortunate little surprises again! You know, the killer album from the band nobody’s heard of. It’s true what they say everyone loves and underdog, and there’s no exception here.
Enigmatic Smile is the second album from the beastly quintet, an absolute monster of a follow up to 2012’s The Lucid Dream(er). Complete with demonic growls, melodic choruses and a shit load of shred. The vocal pairings of clean singer, Christoph Wieczorek, and rough vocalist Dave Grunewald are text book post hardcore, shining on tracks such as ‘Carry Me Away’, ‘Panic Attack’ and ‘Wolves In The Walls’. Also, correct us if we are wrong. But who think’s Christoph’s melodic tones are eerily reminiscent of Young Gun’s very own Gustav Wood, not that that’s a bad thing.
Enigmatic Smile is yet another weapon in the ever growing arsenal that is the modern rock scene. We absolutely love a new release that immediately lifts up your frock and has a little rummage, there’s literally nothing better as a rocker, metal head or whatever you internet folk label yourselves as. In short, this record kicks fucking ass, it really rips. Perfect mosh material. We hope to see a lot more from Annisokay in the near future, and on that note auf Wiedersehen!
