US heavy metal band All That Remains have returned with the seventh studio album, The Order Of Things and to be honest the result isn’t the usual drop kick to the face that we’ve come to expect from new metal releases in recent months.
This album is like porridge. It’s not the worst thing in the world, but you don’t eat porridge fanatically unless you’re a bit of a weirdo right? The Order Of Things isn’t a bad album, it’s just lacking in flair and personality for the most part. For example, the opening track ‘This Probably Won’t End Well’ , just seems to drone on a little too long and there’s just no moments that make your jaw hit the floor which sucks, and the same can be said for the majority of the record.
Now again like porridge it’s not all bad, The Order Of Things does have some highlights. ‘Victory Lap’ and ‘Bite My Tongue’ are the honey or the golden syrup that sweeten up the record. ‘Victory Lap’ has a killer riff, absolute head bang material, but sorry chaps it just isn’t enough to save the rest of the album. It’s a shame that The Order Of Things has come up short. All That Remains have had some brilliant past material like ‘Not Alone’ and ‘Two Weeks’ and a lot of this new stuff just doesn’t come close. Let’s just take a moment to look over some lyrics from ‘The Greatest Generation’: “Remember what made us great?” Well it seems guys that sadly, you don’t.
