On Monday evening, Fearless Vampire Killers released a statement announcing their disbandment following frontman Kier Kemp’s announcement last Friday that he would be leaving the band.
“Over the weekend we have struggled to find the answer to this unfortunate situation, and we have come to the conclusion that it would be wrong to continue this band without Kier by our side.”
All hope was not lost though for FVK fans, as the post went on to say that the rest of the band – Laurence, Luke, Shane, and Drew – “will certainly continue to make music together; though the specifics of this are uncertain.”
Kier followed with his own statement shortly after. “Firstly I guess I’d just say that I wish there was another way… believe me I tried” his post read.
“So now here we are. I’m writing to you saying I’m sorry for any heartache and lets try and dig something a little more positive out of all of this. There is a legacy. There is a message that we had and despite instantaneous reactions all of FVK are my dear friends and I’m sure that won’t end. At least I hope it won’t.”
He concluded by saying that “No one is going to stop making music. Certainly not me as this has been my life’s work. So here’s to many more years of creativity and experiences. See you guys soon no doubt.”
There is no news yet on any farewell shows and FVK have been entirely silent since the announcement, sending Twitter into meltdown about the news.

It’s a shame to hear Fearless Vampire Killers are disbanding, a genuine and unique group of musicians and a good live band. Shall be missed.

They’ve definitely left a legacy, going to be a large gap in the music scene.

Fearless Vampire Killers broke up. But did they kill fearless vampires, or were they fearless vampires who killed? Answer lost to the ages.
