After My Chemical Romance effectively broke the internet on Wednesday evening, they decided to put the record straight, shattering the hopes of some fans who’d predicted a reunion.
The band posted a very mysterious and out of the blue video on Twitter in which the piano intro from ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ can be heard. The date 09/23/16 (23rd September) was also featured, which sent fans into a frenzy of guessing what the mysterious video might mean. The video was posted on the band’s Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as being emailed to fans on their mailing list.

The profile photos of the bands social media account were also all changed to a black logo, separated into four by a cross with the letters MCRX in each corner.

Fans responded in their hundreds of thousands, speculating about the video and mystery date. The post was shared over 267,000 times. My Chemical Romance’s third album ‘The Black Parade’ was released on October 23rd ten years ago this year, and many fans hoped the video may have signified a band reunion, or anniversary tour.

We suspect that after seeing the massive amount of hype online about the video, the band realised that the hype had gone a little too far. The band sent the record straight the following day by posting on their social media sites confirmation that there was ‘no reunion planned’, and that fans could expect a release to celebrate the anniversary of The Black Parade.
Thank you so much for the love. pic.twitter.com/3wv6G7CXIk
