Lamb of God released their eighth studio album ‘VII: Sturm Und Drang’ on July 24th and it debuted in the UK’s National Album chart at number 7, their highest position ever, amongst releases from Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Taylor Swift. It also went straight in at number 1 on the Independent Albums chart as well as the Rock & Metal Album chart.
The record is the band’s first after their lead singer Randy Blythe was released in 2012 from Pankrác Prison where he spent just over a month due to a manslaughter court case. Regardless of his experience in the prison, Blythe has stated that fans shouldn’t expect a “prison record” as just two songs out of the ten reference the ordeal while the remaining song topics talk about “things that affect him very deeply” from self-obsession and carbon footprints to the media using fear tactics and how the internet is stifling creativity.
