American heavy metal giants Mastodon are gearing up for next month’s release of their forthcoming album, Emperor of Sand, by treating us to a brand new track. ‘Show Yourself’ sees a more melodic side to the band’s usual metal sound, focusing on catchy riffs and a infectious chorus. Despite being a short and snappy three minute number, the band have still managed to squeeze in a great guitar solo. It’s clear to see Mastodon have been experimenting with their sound this time around by throwing a softer track into the mix, so it will be interesting to see how they balance this on the album.
