Panic! At The Disco – High Hopes | First Impressions

Our first impressions of the new Panic! At The Disco single, ‘High Hopes’.

These days, it’s difficult to take Panic! At The Disco all that seriously. After all, it is just Brendon Urie… the three other founding members of the band, as well as a handful of other additions from over the years have all abandoned ship. Urie keeps it afloat however, riding out on waves of sheer talent and good looks.

An artist’s rendering of the situation…

The band’s (we’ll call it that, just for the avoidance of an argument) sixth studio album is due for release on June 22, and its lead single ‘Say Amen (Saturday Night)‘ went down a treat with eager fans who were desperate for new music. It was accompanied by a B-side, ‘(Fuck A) Silver Lining‘, also featuring on the upcoming album, and now this week Panic! At The Disco have unveiled the second single – ‘High Hopes‘.

A brass section is all a song really needs to be brilliant, and so Panic! At The Disco has hit the nail right on the head with this one. Paired together with Urie’s world-famous vocals, there’s very little to fault on this track. It’s a wonderful insight into the upcoming record which label boss Pete Wentz (of Fall Out Boy fame) said “is Death of a Bachelor [the previous Panic! At The Disco record] on steroids”.
