The music world is a tough one. We all know that. We’ve seen our favourite bands struggle through all sorts, lose members, go on hiatus, or just give up all together. There are uncountable bands all trying to catch their break, whether they are experienced or new; sometimes they are great, sometimes they’re not. However, it’s not very often that you randomly come across a band who seem like they are doing things just about right. And it’s always refreshing to come across a band like that.
And that’s the kind of feeling we’ve had after stumbling across SLEEPLESS. So, here’s a few things we’ve learned about this band:
1) Who are they?
They’re called SLEEPLESS. They’re from Aberdeen, Scotland. They are a four-piece and they are what modern post-hardcore should sound like. It’s a great mix of the classic post-hardcore we know and love with a modern outlook. We could all probably agree that a band like this would be suited to, but not limited to, fans of A Day To Remember, Sleeping With Sirens and Bring Me The Horizon. We think, if things go right and they can live up to potential, we will hear a lot more about this band.

2) #VZG
‘#VZG’ is the bands most recent track release and it shows us exactly what they are all about. High quality post-hardcore that you don’t always hear from new bands these days. Catchy clean vocals, heavy heart-pumping rhythm sections, and brutal breakdowns. What’s more is the dirty vocals; they are fantastic. The kind of anger you want from a post-hardcore band, and it obviously sounds like a lot of work has been put into perfecting them. In fact, you can hear how much work has been put into the overall track, both from a creative, composition context and the production side.
This track really possesses a lot of potential. Give it a listen at the bottom of this page! It’s also available on Spotify, iTunes and all major online distributors.
3) There’s an EP coming
Just to get us a little more excited, SLEEPLESS are planning on releasing an EP later this year! It’s release date is 1st June, and although it doesn’t have an official title yet, we can’t wait to give it a whirl and hear what this band can really do. It’s already been added to our list of things we want to review!
4) There’s an EP LAUNCH coming
The great thing about a new band releasing a new EP is … an EP launch! SLEEPLESS have organised a release show on the date of the EP release (obviously) with support from Hayworth, Still Standing & 2325.
The gig will take place at The Tunnel in Aberdeen and after having a look at a few videos posted on the bands social media, we think it’s sure to be a great show! So, if you’re in the area (or not), get your tickets by clicking here for June 1st.
