HTF: First off, we have to ask, how is it you manage to balance being a singer, presenter and now the new face of Mossimo?
BR: Haha, well when you say it like that I guess it is kinda nuts. But I feel it sounds more hectic and crazy than it actually is. Truth is, I’ve just kind of adapted to what’s come my way and all the weird, wonderful things I may have attracted or have come my way. So far so good! Enjoying what I do and keeping my eyes open for new experiences.
HTF: For those of us who are new to Mossimo, tell us about it…
BR: Mossimo, is a cool street wear based brand originating in the States from the surfing scene in the mid 80’s. Recently they’ve come across the pond to the UK focussing more on casual street and skate wear!
HTF: What’s your favourite piece of Mossimo clothing?
BR: Ooh, there are a few pieces I’m into. But generally there are a lot of dope tees and vests in the collections I’ve been wearing out this summer!
HTF: Have you always been into fashion?
BR: Definitely not to the extent I am now, but I’ve always had an interest in some way. I suppose as I’ve tried different things and been exposed to more eclectic styles and looks I’ve grown more of a keen eye and passion for it.
HTF: Do you ever plan on having your own clothing line one day?
BR: Who knows man, I’d never rule it out. Would be a fun, intriguing project to undertake.
HTF: What’s the biggest thing that has happened for you musically and otherwise over the past year?
BR: I’m glad you asked! Oddly enough, I got to meet and interview the legend, Jackie Chan the other day! We even sang a bit of Elvis together! That was pretty big, and musical! He has a dope voice! lol Literally not sure I can top that right now. I don’t even wanna try.
HTF: What’s been your biggest career highlight so far?
BR: I interviewed Jackie Chan the other day! Not sure I’ve told you or not.. Go Jackie! Nah, but I’ve had an amazing few years. Some ups, some downs but too many highlights to mention. Opening the stage for Alicia Keys, Jay Z and touring Europe with Justin Bieber, just to name a few!
HTF: Do you prefer being the interviewer or interviewee?
BR: Definitely the interviewee. But the more I interview others I start to get my head around the art and skill behind it. Kinda cool developing my approach. However, I’m so used to being interviewed it’s still a bit of an adjustment switching the roles.
HTF: Who has been your favourite person you have interviewed so far?
BR: I interviewed Jackie Chan the other day. I get the feeling you don’t believe me? lol
HTF: You recently took to the stage with Jessie J! What was that like?
BR: Ah, so dope man. We were talking on Whatsapp and she mentioned she had a performance coming up and that it would be wicked if I jumped up onstage and sang something with her. So I did! She’s a diamond in the rough. One of the best vocalists I’ve heard and a genuine soul. Lucky to call her a friend.
HTF: If you had to pick two of your songs for newcomers to listen to, which would they be?
BR: Showgirl and I Know (acoustic version). Or even just ask them to check out my Youtube stuff. There’s a lot on there.
HTF: What can we expect from Bluey Robinson in the future?
BR: Ahh, a lot man. What can’t we expect!? I have a new single called, ‘BodyRock’ coming out soon followed by a 5/6 track EP. A lot of shows and hopefully a tour. Still enjoying my time as a presenter so seeing what that path has for me. And looking out for other intriguing projects and partnerships to dive into!
