Zebrahead | Interview | Slamdunk 2014

We had a chat with Ali vocalist of Zebrahead at this years Slamdunk Festival. Check out what happened right here.

So whilst at Slam Dunk Festival we got to catch up with Ali; the vocalist of pop punk Californian band Zebrahead. Constantly touring around the world we got to sit down and talk about the things that matter; the new album, festivals, alcohol and moustaches!

HTF: Hey! How are you?
Ali: I’m good thanks!

HTF: How was the first day of Slam Dunk?
A: It was good. For some reason, two nights before that I couldn’t sleep and the night before that I couldn’t sleep.

HTF: Sounds like time travelling may have some blame, travelling countries etc.
A: Yeah I think that might have something to do with it. Anyways, so I was really crapped out like I hadn’t slept in two days really, we thought the show was really fun, the crowd was awesome, and we had a blast. And then afterwards, we hung out, we got to see a lot of our friends we haven’t seen in a long time.

HTF: Who did you get you get to see?
A: Like Less Than Jake, you know we’ve toured with them. Said hi to The All-American Rejects guys for a little bit. It’s cool at these festivals that you get to kind see some of your friends you don’t get to see that often.

HTF: Who is the worst one for snoring on the bus?
A: So I’m surrounded by two of them, both of them actually. Ed our drummer and Dan our guitarist. It’s like a snoring concert going on. They’re killing it; they can stay away from me.

HTF: Who’s always the last one back to the bus?
A: Dan.

HTF: Is he playing with his moustache?
A: Yeah. He’s always running around playing with his moustache.

HTF: How long does he spend on his moustache?
A: Not very long actually! He’s very good at it.

HTF: Are you guys planning on coming back to the UK soon?
A: We have a bunch of summer festivals planned right now. I know we’re coming back for Download. After that we have a month off. We’re actually releasing a DVD, a live DVD we have recorded in cologne, Germany.

HTF: Is that by your German videographers?
A: No that’s a different thing, that’s actually a documentary we’ve been working on for 4 or 5 years now. We’re still filming that and working on it. This new DVD is of a live show, which we’re finishing up now. Once that’s finished we’re going back to the studio to work on a new album.

HTF: Is it going to go in a different direction?
A: So far we have a bunch of song ideas and I would say they are like half way done. The way we work is we write a shit ton of songs and pick the top thirty. We don’t know yet.

HTF: Who is the worst dancer when they’re drunk? Or best depending how you view it.
A: Matty (vocalist/guitarist). He’s amazing

HTF: What’s his favourite move?
A: He doesn’t really have a name for it; I think it’s called the white boy shuffle. It’s really good; he’s really good at it.

HTF: Who’s the biggest lightweight when it comes to drinking?
A: Matty, definitely.

HTF: I see a reoccurring theme here!
A: He has a couple of beers and starts dancing.

HTF: What’s your drink of choice?
A: Right now I would say Jameson’s!

Further to this interview hanging out with the rest of the guys we asked Dan Palmer (guitarist) about his snoring and we got this great quote; “I don’t snore I speak fine poetry in my sleep.”
