Warped Tour has crept up quicker than we ever thought: it only seems a few weeks ago that we were packing away our tents for the year and crying over the lack of sunshine. And now it’s time for what’s quickly becoming the best indoor music festival the UK has. 2012 saw the first UK Warped Tour and 2013 it comes back over a whole weekend.
We can’t wait to dance around like crazy people with a cider in our hand and some friends by our sides. But these are the bands i’m most looking forward to.
Saturday
1. Chiodos
If I had to pick one band of the whole weekend who I could NOT miss it would be these guys. But sadly I haven’t heard a lot of hype around them. Maybe i’m missing it or maybe i’ll be the only one there jumping like a crazy child. But either way Chiodos are back. Craig Owens is back and my god if the Kerrang! Tour earlier this year is anything to by we are expecting a blinder of a set!
2. Yellowcard
I still remember listening to ‘Ocean Avenue’ as a teenager cooped up in my room during my ’emo’ phase and to be honest Yellowcard could play this song and just leave the stage and i’d still be happy. That’s not to say there aren’t plenty of other tracks to sway/ jump along to. But come on Alexandra Palace will erupt when they start the sing-a-long of “There’s a place off Ocean Avenue, where I used to sit and talk with you”.
3. Like Moths To Flames
This band are one of my new finds of the year: maybe a little slow off the mark but their album ‘An Eye For An Eye’ is something we’re glad we didn’t miss. It’s always great to see bands you’ve never seen before and we’re hoping LMTF live up to the album!
4. The Younger
Another band that are new to enter our ears in 2013, The Younger produced an EP I couldn’t stop listening to: ‘Have Hope’ left me excited about what the band had to offer.
5. Canterbury
With a brand new album out in January we’re bloody excited to hear some new music from Canterbury. This band seemed to be everywhere earlier in the year: every show we went to they were supporting, every day long festival seemed to showcase the band and then they disappeared and we realized how much we missed them. But now they’re back!
Sunday
1. Billy Talent
I wanted to put Billy Talent on both days because in all honesty I will probably jump around to this band on both days regardless of the fact that their set will probably be identical: but it’s not very often BT come back so i’m going to take advantage. I know by the end i’ll be disappointed because they can’t play EVERY single song I want them too (which would mean every album back to back!) but we’re looking forward to seeing what they have to offer.
2. Max Raptor
Perhaps one of the hottest bands around at the moment Max Raptor, if 2014 isn’t their year then there is seriously something wrong with the world. That’s all we need to say really. Make sure you check them out.
3. While She Sleeps
It’s been a while since we’ve seen this bunch of lads and we are already sure they won’t disappoint. They’ve been busy away in the US but now they’re back on home turf ready to shake the ground!
4. The First
This will be the first time we’ve seen the band since their debut album came out and it’s going to be testament as to whether the tracks sound as amazing live as they do on record (and we’re sure they will). It might be our time of the weekend to rest our heads and dance rather than mosh!
5. Coheed & Cambria
I am very ashamed to admit that in all of my gig going years I have never once seen this band so this weekend will rectify that once and for all. Maybe it’s my chance to jump in a pit and crowd surf too?!? Maybe that’s too much excitement though.
