For those of you who are somehow still not aware, Parkway Drive are an Australian 5 piece hailing from the sleepy surfing town of Byron bay. But don’t be fooled…the sound produced by this band is brutal enough to trade punches with even the toughest of individuals.
In recent years Parkway have gone from strength to strength at a colossal rate, leaving the practice space of Drummer Ben Gordon’s family home situated on the road from which band took their name. Then after an gruelling period of touring, finally reaching dizzy highs following the release of their album “Horizons” in 2007 produced by Adam D of “Killswitch Engage” fame.
Parkway Drive’s trade mark style, consisting of crunching break downs as well as the combing of genres including Punk and Hardcore with Metal and Death, has seen them achieve success previously unheard of for a band operating in the metal genre. In 2010 Parkway released “Clear blue” produced this time by Joe Baressi, again to critical acclaim. With their wave of success still going strong and showing no signs of stopping, we went down to the Bristol Academy to speak to vocalist Winston McCall about the past, the future, and what tells Parkway Drive apart from the present scene.
