Tool have revealed that they have enough creative flow to fill an album and then some.

After waiting for details of their new album, and the album itself, Tool fans have been confused as to the hold up. The band have exclusively revealed why the album has been paused for such a long time – a lawsuit.

In 2007, Tool faced the start of this lawsuit. An associate of guitarist Adam Jones claimed that Tool had not given him credit for the artwork he had created. Shortly after, the lawsuit was compounded because the insurance company defending the band filed a law suit because of ‘technicalities regarding the case’.

The case with the insurance company is set to go to trial in January this year, after a long seven year wait.

When asked about the album and the lawsuit, guitarist Adam Jones said: “It’s costing millions and millions and millions of dollars to defend us. And the fans are all going, ‘We want a new Tool album. What the f—?’ And you don’t want to pull people into your problems, because they don’t understand. But the point is, we’re fighting the good fight. We’re going to trial and we want to crush them. But every time we’ve gotten close to going to trial, it gets postponed and we’ve wasted money and time and it has just drained our creative energy. We bought an insurance policy for peace of mind, but instead we would have been better off if we never had it and just dealt with the original lawsuit.”
