Hi, what are you looking for?

Interview: Fearless Vampire Killers (HTF Exclusive)

FVK Laurence talks to us about losing his sanity, the Kerrang! Tour, Black Veil Brides and Buffy….

Hit The Floor caught up with the wonderful Laurence from Fearless Vampire Killers for a quick Q&A about their up comnig Kerrang! tour.

HTF: Hey Laurence, how are you? Thanks for taking the time to speak to Hit The Floor – you guys must be so busy at the moment getting ready for the Kerrang! Tour.
L: Hey, I’m ok thanks. Our eyeballs are slowly imploding into our sockets through the sheer drudgery of our daily lives but we’re incredibly excited for the Kerrang! tour. We are practicing a lot. Just shot a new video which was a complete nightmare, delayed by snow and all that balls. I’m also trying to write like six comic books, two novels, while trying to get the songs ironed out for album number two so it’s pretty nuts.

HTF: Wow, you are a busy little Vampire Killer! No rest for the wicked ey? What have you guys done to prepare for such an important tour? Rehearsals 24/7?
L: We just had a days rehearsal at the Barfly, which is pretty cool, as we’ve never been able to practice on a stage before. And considering we’ve not been playing shows for three months, we really needed to get the feel of a stage again. You can practice for weeks on end in a rehearsal studio, but it never compares to actually getting on the stage.

HTF: Sounds good! You’re getting a lot of love from the guys in Black Veil Brides, who said in their last interview with Hit The Floor, that they are looking forward to touring with you guys. That’s is pretty cool, how and where did you guys meet?
L: We’ve only actually met once or twice. I met Andy at Kerrang! Awards and he was a really nice, genuine guy. We share similar histories as bands. Early in their career they struggled to find support tours because of the way they looked etc, and that’s the boat we’re in now. With the exception of William Control and BVB/Kerrang, no one wants to take us on tour – there are a fair few who want to support us though, so I guess we’ll have to be trailblazers, turn this insular, grey old British music scene into something exciting. Unless someone actually breaks ranks and says that “hey FVK aren’t that bad, let’s take them on tour!” we’ll have to drag ourselves up.

HTF: We find that very hard to believe! Who wouldn’t want to go on tour with you guys! If Hit The Floor was a band, we’d take you on tour any time! So, have you got anything special planned for the Kerrang! Tour? What can your fans expect?
L: We’ll be suitably ridiculous. Play a nonsense cover from the 80s and probably get a bit controversial. I’m sure you’ll get a good pout out of Kier and an agonized screech from myself. You know, the usual. We’re just so desperate to play. I mean, I don’t even know if I can perform anymore, this is the longest I’ve gone without playing a gig since I was about 16, I might just get on stage and break down into tears. Still that would be a sight to see, eh? They could film it and play some sad piano music in the background.

HTF: This is your biggest tour to date, are you guys nervous? Or excited? Bit of both?
L: I’m excited, because it’s all I’ve wanted to do since I was a nipper, but I still can’t believe it’s going to happen. I’ve got a distinct feeling I’m going to die somehow before hitting the stage. Which is pretty grim. Not from anything like suicide or anything. Just getting hit by a car, or like diagnosed with a terrible disease. My sanity is all over the place at the moment. I’m banking on this tour to be a miraculous cure-all of my recent grievances.

HTF: Ok Laurence, we sincerely hope that your feelings are wrong, please don’t die!
#awkward ….ummm so, is there anything else you’d like to add?
L: Just started watching Buffy season 3 again and it really takes thing to the next level. Get on it.

HTF: We will! And thank you very much for talking to us, it’s been a pleasure, as always! See you at the Kerrang! Tour!
