Just after an amazing summer, including an slot at this year’s Download Festival, Cytota announced that unfortunately lead singer Joby Fitzgerald was leaving the band due to disagreements in which direction the band was headed. Luckily though, this didn’t mean the end of the incredible Birmingham metal band. Soon after, the band announced they were holding auditions for a new front man, and just today, 8th October, Cytota announced that Griffin Dickinson was to be the new lead singer.
The band had this to say, “Griffin has been a friend of ours for many years now and his addition to the lineup was a no-brainer. We’ve absolutely no doubt he is going to smash it on the next record and we can’t wait to get back on the road to tear up venues up and down the country.”
Griffin is in actual fact the son of Iron Maiden lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson and brother to Rise To Remain‘s lead vocalist Austin Dickinson. As Griffin says “Being in a band is in my bloodline!”
It won’t be long until you’ll be able to see Cytota perform with their new front-man, as they also announced that they will be supporting Crossfaith in their upcoming European and UK tour, to help create an incredible tour line-up. Also joining them will be Silent Screams and and Japanese post-hardcore band Coldrain. We cannot wait to see how Cytota perform and to be honest, the entire show.
