Former AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, is reportedly in full-time care in a nursing home facility that specializes in dementia. The band announced Malcolm’s retirement from the group on Wednesday following reports earlier this year that he would be unable to join them in the studio.

According to Sydney Morning Herald, a source connected to the Young family has stated that the 61 year old is receiving care at the home, believed to be based in Sydney’s Elizabeth Bay.

AC/DC are due to release new album ‘Rock Or Bust’ on December 1st. The album is the first in the band’s 41 year history not to feature Malcolm Young. His and fellow bandmate and brother Angus Young‘s nephew Stevie takes his place on the album and will accompany the band on future tours.

Frontman Brian Johnson had previously hinted at calling the album ‘Man Down’ in reference to Malcolm Young’s health issues but elected not to as “it’s a bit negative and it was probably just straight from the heart.”.
