October was yet another good month for new music, wasn’t it? Somehow, we’ve managed to pick our favourite 5 from the last month, and given you a little snippet of our thoughts in this nice little monthly round-up. Tip: to check out the full reviews of each record, make sure you click on the album artwork.
Lower Than Atlantis – Lower Than Atlantis
4.5/5
Source: Album Artwork“The Watford band may have roots in the hardcore punk scene, but that genre is simply no longer accurate to describe their sound. Before you go worrying yourself, the massive guitar lines are still there. Evolution in sound is great, especially if it results in an album that sounds as BIG as Lower Than Atlantis’ self-titled effort.”

Slipknot – .5: The Gray Chapter
4/5
Source: Album Artwork“Slipknot have this incredible ability to make music that is so instantly recognisable. They really do possess an inherent sound that is unique to Slipknot, and Slipknot alone. The Gray Chapter [might not] be anyone’s favourite Slipknot album, but it’s incredibly commendable to have them come back and create something of this calibre.”

Mallory Knox – Asymmetry
5/5
Source: Album Artwork“Generally we hear a lot of bands try to punch above their weight and change everything about themselves to adhere to fame and fortune, but Mallory Knox have stuck closely to their guns and just perfected what they already know.”

Black Veil Brides – Black Veil Brides IV
4/5
Source: Album Artwork“Black Veil Brides have clearly tried to grow and release a more serious sounding album with their self-titled. That being said, this album takes us back to the earlier days of the band when things were heavier.”
