Australian singer Iggy Azalea has spoken out against Lorde’s recent tribute performance of Kurt Cobain’sAll Apologies’.

The New Zealand star recently performed the Nirvana hit at the Rock n’ Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony where she was joined by the surviving members of Nirvana as well as St Vincent, Joan Jett and Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon.

It’s a strange performance to watch, not least because Lorde’s song writing and vocal style differs so much from that of Kurt Cobain but also since Lorde, who is only 17, was not yet even born when Nirvana released the song on their album In Utero.

Azalea was particularly displeased and stated that she felt it was not appropriate for Lorde to front the performance.

It is known however that Lorde has been associated with ex-Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl having been spotted posing with him at a Grammy award ceremony so perhaps Grohl himself, having met Lorde, felt that she would suit the performance well.
