The forthcoming Hunger Games film has chosen its music supervisor, Lorde.
The 17-year-old will select the soundtrack and will record a lead single for the movie, Mockingjay – Part 1. Lorde said that she is “so pleased and proud” to be named “sole curator“, working alongside director of the franchise Francis Lawrence.
The director said: “I sat down with Lorde on the set of Mockingjay this spring and I was immediately struck by how she so innately understood what we … were trying to accomplish with the film,” “Her immense talent and keen understanding of Mockingjay’s characters and themes not only had enabled her to create a song of her own that completely captures the film’s essence, but her insight and passion for our project make her the perfect creative force to assemble the other songs on our soundtrack.”
Lorde has been open about her love and appreciation of the Hunger Games books and contributed a song to the Catching Fire soundtrack. The singer claimed: “I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people.”
The third instalment is due to be released this November, ahead of the final film sometime next year.
