Parlophone have confirmed the artists taking part in this year’s UK Record Store Day. Coldplay, Graham Coxon and Richard Hawley are among those releasing vinyl on a limited 2000 copy run. Artists to take part in the past include Blur, who released ‘Fool’s Day’ to widespread demand as a record store day release with vinyl copies fetching hundreds of pounds.
Graham Coxon releases his two singles ‘What’ll It Take’ and ‘Ooh, Yeh Yeh‘ from the killer album ‘A&E’. Bat For Lashes are also unveiling a cover of Depeche Mode‘s ‘Strangelove‘ while Richard Hawley is launching his exciting new singles club with a collection of material from ‘Standing At The Sky’s Edge’ with exclusive b-side ‘You Haunt Me’.
Coldplay are also to release an exclusive vinyl of tracks ‘U.F.O’ and ‘Up With The Birds’ from smash hit album ‘Mylo Xylo‘ and Baxter Drury will also release ‘Leak At The Disco’ with B-side ‘Trellic (Kwes Remix)’.
Here’s what Natasha Khan of Bat For Lashes had to say: “Independent record stores are the heart and soul of music in the community, somewhere you can go to discover new artists or find past treasures. I spent hours in the record shops around Brighton, Resident and Edgeworld were two of my favourites, and I discovered bands and albums I would never normally have come across like The Langley Schools Music Project and Lift To Experience or beautiful hand printed vinyl artwork from overseas labels like Constellation.”
