Interview: The Francis Jetty

This Northampton five piece have a style influence that is a mix between The Stones, The Who, Ray Charles and Paul Weller. It makes for a great lyrical (and raw instrumental led) feel.

They have successfully gigged around London, catching the eye of Alan McGee. They were promptly booked for his Greasy Lips club shows around the country. This led to playing several support around Britain/Ireland with Pete Doherty and Ocean Colour Scene. Currently in the studio with Mick Whitnall of Babyshambles at the controls, The Francis Jetty have a single out early in December.

HTF: Hey, thanks for talking to Hit The Floor – how are you?

TFJ: Box fresh today, all good.

HTF: So, tell us, who IS this Francis Jetty?

TFJ: Adam, Kyall, Matt, Jamie and Franco. Quality.

HTF: On your FaceBook it says ‘We Love It’ – What exactly is it that you love?

TFJ: Life in general. You’ve got to ain’t ya? Otherwise you end up strolling round the market square with a super strength Latvian lager wishing you could afford one of them sausage and bean melts from Greggs.

HTF: For people who haven’t heard of you yet, which type of clothing would you describe your music as and why?

TFJ: Our tunes are like French Knickers. Appeal to the ladies but obviously designed for the men. A bit dirty but loved by all parties.

HTF: I hear You guys are playing Playhard at the Purple Turtle next week, which is being streamed live world wide to thousands of viewers…. That’s pretty cool right?

TFJ: That is definitely cool yeah! We’re thinking it’ll be reaching more people in one night than the amount that have heard our stuff already, so, it’s mint yeah.

HTF: Who do you hope is watching around the world?

TFJ: The Chinese.

HTF: What does the future hold for The Francis Jetty?

TFJ: In the short term we’re simply looking to get people involved. So gig, write, gig, write. We’re currently recording and producing with Mik Whitnall from Babyshambles too so the dingle will be ready for your ears as soon as Jettyly possible. Someone will come knocking in early 2013 and then when we get the chance to sit in a studio for a while, the album will be ridiculously good!

HTF: Which countries would you like to tour in, and are you casually gonna mention it while you’re on stage? Cos we think you think you should, you never know who might be watching. We’ve heard some bands got gigs in America on the back of playing a Playhard night.

TFJ: I think America would be cracking, although I doubt they’d allow Franklin a Visa. Apart from that, the Japanese love British rock and Roll and I reckon Germany would be a giggle. As for mentioning it, we’ll get some inside info first then chuck some multi lingual lyrics out there.
