A working draft of Bob Dylan’s classic song ‘Like A Rolling Stone’ has broken the record for the most expensive lyric manuscript ever sold.
The handwritten draft was sold by Sotheby’s for $2.045 million (£1.204 million). The buyer remains unidentified, but is reported to be a Californian fan of the Dylan.
Described by the auction house as “the only known surviving draft of the final lyrics for this transformative rock anthem,” the draft features Dylan’s doodles of a hat and animals alongside the lyrics.
This record overtakes the previous holder which was John Lennon’s handwritten draft of Beatles classic ‘A Day In The Life’, which fetched $1.2 million (£706,980) in 2010.
